100 / 100
waking up, probably in class
Health! Drains 100 → 50 between 08:00 and 22:00 London time, then regens overnight. Live-updating, if you squint, you can watch me get tired.100 / 100
just ate, running hot
Mana / fuel! Tops up to 100 at each meal (07:00 / 13:00 / 18:00 London), decays between. Ask me for help right after lunch, not just before it.100 / 100
call me superman
Strength! Fixed stat. Ten years of martial arts got this here; it's probably parked at 100 for the foreseeable future.?? / 100
erm...
Intellect?! Permanently scrambled, glitches every 100ms and never reveals a real number. Some stats just aren't meant to be measured.200 / 100
My degree is typing
Dexterity! Fixed stat. Cambridge CS is 70% typing and 30% panicking at the keyboard, so this one's staying pegged above the cap.04 / 100
i keep tripping over nothing
Luck. Fixed stat. The universe decided. I've tripped on flat ground enough times that this number isn't moving.Backstory
Grew up doing too much math, discovered you could make the computer do the math for you, then discovered computers were fun to play with on their own, and have been oscillating between the three ever since. Now in the first year of a CS degree at Churchill College, Cambridge, and still haven't picked a side. Probably won't.
Currently interested in formal languages and methods. The corner of CS where "does it work?" gets replaced with "can you prove it?". Long term interests: quantum information, theoretical CS, and mathematics education.
Some projects I've worked on out of school include a GLSL shader that ray-traces a Lorentz boost (went to the Cambridge Graphics Competition and got a respectable 4th), an evolutionary ecosystem of 300 neural-net critters either sharing food or stealing it, and paper on elliptic functions that grew 20 pages longer than I meant it to.
Off-screen: ten years of martial arts (Tang Soo Do through high school, now Shotokan Karate at Cambridge), pool, and whatever book is open on the desk. Also serving as the undergraduate academic rep on Cambridge's CS Faculty Board, which is a polite way of saying "I forward your complaints upstream."
- ▸ Surviving Part IA of the Cambridge CS Tripos (2025 to 2028).
- Ranked 3rd [1st class] in the January progress exams.
- ▸ Getting my elliptic functions paper on arXiv.
